FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What kind of camera and lenses do you use?
I use a Panasonic GH3 camera with a few different lenses: a 25mm f/1.7 lens, a 14mm f/2.5 pancake lens, and a fisheye lens attachment.
Q: How long does it take to finish a photo?
Typically, my photos will take 1-2 weeks to complete, depending on the complexity of the diorama. If I need to make a lot of accessories for a shot, it will take longer. If I am working with pre-existing accessories, I can put the shot together relatively quickly.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get most of my inspiration from everyday life situations. If I experience something interesting during the day, I'll ask myself "would this make a good toy photo?". I also enjoy tapping into my childhood memories for inspiration.
Q: How long have you been doing toy photography?
I discovered toy photography at the beginning of 2018, and created my Instagram account in March of that year.
Q: How big are the figures you use?
I generally work with figures in three different scales: 1/12 scale, 1/6 scale and 1/4 scale. The action figures in those scales are approximately 6”, 12” and 18” respectively.
Q: Do you build all the small accessories and background elements yourself?
I build many of the accessories and backgrounds myself - they are often 3D-printed, but I also create props with polymer clay, paper, and foamboard.
Q: How many figures do you own?
I haven’t done a thorough count of my collection, but I’d estimate that I own somewhere between 100 and 150 action figures.
Q: Do you sell custom figures?
No, at this time I am not selling custom figures.
